VON SORELLA Joins Efforts to Provide Non-Medical Masks to Healthcare Professionals
A few days into quarantine, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw one of my favorite fashion designers making masks for healthcare professionals in need. As a fellow designer, I felt I immediately needed to get to work!
I didn't know there a way I could contribute to the fight against coronavirus, and learning that healthcare professionals were resorting to using bandanas and trash bags in lieu of personal protective equipment (PPE) motivated me to do anything I could to help.
So far, I have made dozens of masks using 100% Italian cotton left over from a previous womenswear collection. While they are not medical grade PPE, they are better than nothing.
This week I am donating most of these masks to healthcare professionals on the front lines in New York hospitals where supplies are needed most and to some in Houston, TX where I live. I will continue to make as many as possible, proving that even as a small fashion label, a difference can be made.
